Sleep is essential for maintaining many things. This includes a positive mind-set, physical health and as well as well-being. But what else can the lack zzzz's be causing our bodies and minds to do (and not do)....

Adequate sleep is also needed for normal functioning of the body’s endocrine and immune systems (Spiegal et al. 1999).

In turn, an insufficient amount of sleep has been linked to:

-  a number of chronic diseases and conditions (including type 2 diabetes)

- cardiovascular disease

-  obesity

- depression

And as we know for ourselves, such a lack of sleep can also lead to decreased productivity.
